All Basin Special Team

The Special Teams unit features this year’s premiere kickers, punters, and return specialists in West Texas.  Our four All Basin place kickers accounted for 231 points this year.  Flipping field position and pinning opponents deep throughout the 2021 season, our four punters averaged just under 40 yards a punt as a group.  Waiting on the opposite end of the field of play, our returners were always a threat to return it to the house.

Midland Legacy and Snyder found comfort in the sure-footed kicking abilities of seniors Gunner Meade and Jorge Olivares, while Pecos and Permian relied on sophomore Kevin Leon and junior Tate Terry to hammer kicks through the uprights.

Place Kickers
Gunner Meade (6-2, 185) accounted for 62 of the Rebels points, making three of the four field goal attempts and 53 of the 58 point-after attempts.
Jorge Olivares (5-9, 170) made five-of-six field goals, including a 47-yarder.  He was 45-of-47 in extra points for a total of 60 points for the season.
Kevin Leon (5-8, 190) contributed 52 points to the Pecos Eagles’ efforts, going six for eight in the field goal department with the longest kick coming from 40 yards out. He was 34-of-35 in PAT’s.
Tate Terry (5-11, 150) made four of his six field goals for Permian.  He finished the year making 45-of-47 extra point attempts for total of 57 points.
Rance Purser (5-7, 155) Greenwood – 17 punts with a 41.9 yard average, including longest of 61 yards.
