Eagle Stadium Deemed Unsafe

Pecos, TX – Just as the Pecos Eagles football season is set to get underway, the school district now faces with a dilemma – will the Eagles play at home?

Eagle Stadium, Rotary Field, has been the home nest of the Pecos Eagles.  That nest… stadium facility has been assessed as being structurally unsafe, according to today’s release.  The assessment performed by Ponce-Fuess Engineering says there is major corrosion to the steel framing as well as cracking of the concrete throughout the 47 year old stadium.

The Pecos-Barstow-Toyah school district says aspects of the structure have experienced significant section loss and no longer provide the original design capacity safe for home and visiting fans.

The PBTISD Board of Trustees had the assessment done after setting aside funds and will be meeting with the building inspector for the town of Pecos for guidance on what to do.  The group will discuss working on options later this week.

The district will examine what options will be available before finalizing a decision.
